A two-week loop that hits Changi, Kuala Lumpur, DPS, BKK and a Hong Kong stopover does not need five plastic SIMs. It needs one regional pack whose clock starts when you actually land, not when you scan the QR at home.
BambooSIM sells that shape as Asia 5 – 300GB: a data-only, one-time-use eSIM. The plan is valid for 30 days from activation, and activation occurs on arrival in the first supported destination. Traffic breakout is a Singapore IP. Checkout links below are affiliates; the brand citation above is editorial. Code ESIMG is 10% off when the promotion record is active. Detail in the methodology.
10% off with ESIMG on the live checkout total. Confirm data, validity and the five-country list before paying.

Asia 5 300GB: the verdict
| Fact | What it is |
|---|---|
| Footprint | Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia (including Bali), Thailand, Hong Kong |
| Data | 300GB shared across those five, not 300GB per country |
| Validity | 30 days from first network attach in a supported country |
| Product type | Data-only. No local number, no carrier calls or SMS |
| Reuse | One-time use. Install once. Do not delete the profile |
| IP / breakout | Singapore |
| Host (as listed) | SIMBA in Singapore, then roaming partners (Digi / Celcom and local hosts in ID / TH / HK) |
| Listed price | Around $31.95 before ESIMG (−10%) |
Rule: this pack is for a multi-country SEA + HK itinerary with heavy data (maps, Grab/Gojek, hotspot, video calls). It is not Vietnam, not mainland China, not Japan, not the Philippines. For a single-country trip, compare a local SKU first: Bali eSIM (Indonesia), Thailand eSIM, Singapore eSIM, Malaysia eSIM, Hong Kong eSIM.
Who this pack is for
| Profile | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Bali + Bangkok + a Singapore night | Asia 5 300GB | One profile, one 30-day clock, no desk at DPS or BKK |
| Two weeks in Canggu only | Bali eSIM (Indonesia) | A local Indonesia SKU is usually enough. 300GB is overkill |
| Thailand only, 10 days | Thailand eSIM | AIS / dtac / TrueMove H on a country pack. Read the network guide |
| Singapore layover, then KL and Penang | Asia 5 300GB | SIMBA attach in Singapore starts the clock; Malaysia stays on the same eSIM |
| Vietnam on the same ticket | Not this SKU | Vietnam is on BambooSIM SEA 5, not Asia 5 300GB |
| Need a Thai or Indonesian number | Local plastic / tourist SIM | This product is data-only. WhatsApp and iMessage still work |
| Banking apps that geo-lock on a local IP | Useful here | Breakout is Singapore, including when you are in Bali or Thailand |
| Group of 4 with one laptop | One eSIM + hotspot, or two packs | Hotspot is listed on this plan. Still one-time: do not delete it to move phones |
A reader spending the whole trip in Ubud does not “lose” by skipping this SKU. They need less product, not more.
What “30 days from activation” actually means
BambooSIM’s own selector is blunt: if you install the eSIM and you are already in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand or Hong Kong, it activates immediately. If you are not in one of those countries, the profile stays on the phone and starts only when it first attaches in a supported destination.
That is the whole game:
- Buy before the flight. Apply ESIMG at checkout.
- Check compatibility on the exact iPhone / Pixel / Galaxy SKU. A carrier-locked handset is not “every iPhone 14”.
- Install on home Wi-Fi. Scan the QR. Leave the BambooSIM line off until you land. Do not turn data roaming on while you are still in a supported country you are not travelling to yet (a Hong Kong connection lounge counts).
- On arrival in the first of the five: cellular data = this eSIM. Data roaming on for this profile if the install sheet asks for it. Home SIM data roaming off. Keep the home number for bank SMS.
- The 30-day window starts at that first attach. Not at purchase. Not at QR scan, provided you were outside the footprint.
Purchase itself is typically usable for a long install window (BambooSIM currently writes activate and use within 365 days of purchase on the Asia Pacific selector). That is not extra validity after attach. Once the clock starts, you have 30 days.

Singapore IP: why it matters on a Bali or Thailand trip
Most travel eSIMs in Indonesia or Thailand present a local or Hong Kong address. This SKU’s breakout is Singapore. Your phone radios on Telkomsel / XL / TrueMove / whatever partner is listed; the public IP is still Singapore.
That is useful when:
- A bank, broker or streaming app treats an Indonesian or Thai IP as “unusual login”.
- You want WhatsApp, Google and iCloud to behave like a Singapore session.
- You are hopping DPS → SIN → HKG and do not want the IP to jump with every border.
It is not a VPN you control. It is not a Singapore phone number. It does not put you on mainland China networks (Hong Kong is in the list; China is not). If you need apps to work in China, that is a different BambooSIM family (China + Macau + HK, different routing). Do not buy Asia 5 300GB for Shanghai.
On the radio side, Singapore itself is SIMBA. 5G there is not the story; a stable 4G attach is. Roaming in Indonesia and Thailand still depends on the partner of the day. Confirm the host line on the live listing, then compare it with our Indonesia catalog and Thailand catalog.
Data-only and one-time use
Data-only means Grab, Maps, Instagram, tethering. It does not mean a local MSISDN. Keep the home SIM in the other slot for OTPs (Monzo, Revolut, high-street banks, HMRC). Voice is WhatsApp / FaceTime / the home line.
One-time use means:
- Install on the phone that will travel. Do not delete the eSIM to “move” it to a second device. You will not get a second QR.
- Do not factory-reset without a plan B.
- There is no live in-app usage graph on this particular SKU; watch Settings → Mobile Data.
- When the 30 days or the 300GB end, the service ends. This is not a rechargeable wallet.
300GB in 30 days is a hotspot week, not a Maps weekend. A typical city trip is 8–20GB. Size the need on the data simulator if you are unsure. The reason to take 300GB is one pack for five countries plus laptop tethering, not because Bali “needs” 300GB.
Asia 5 300GB vs a local eSIM vs SEA 5
| Need | Better pick |
|---|---|
| Bali + Java + Lombok only | Bali eSIM (Indonesia) |
| Bangkok, Chiang Mai, islands, 1 country | Thailand eSIM |
| Changi + Sentosa, 4 days | Singapore eSIM |
| KL / Penang / Langkawi only | Malaysia eSIM |
| HK weekend | Hong Kong eSIM |
| ID + MY + SG + TH + VN, smaller allowance | BambooSIM SEA 5 (Vietnam in, Hong Kong out, different IP) |
| ID + MY + SG + TH + HK, 300GB, Singapore IP | Asia 5 300GB (this article) |
| Japan or Australia on the same ticket | A wider APAC SKU, or a second country eSIM. This pack does not cover them |
SEA 5 is the product people mix up with this one. SEA 5 is Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, often a Hong Kong IP, smaller GB ladders. Asia 5 300GB drops Vietnam, adds Hong Kong, keeps the Singapore breakout and the 300GB bucket. Read the country list on the listing, not the word “Asia”.

How to install without burning the 30 days
Open the compatibility tool before you pay.
Install the profile at home, or in a lounge outside the five countries. Scanning a QR jet-lagged at DPS is possible. It is not plan A.
On the aircraft: leave this eSIM off. In-flight Wi-Fi is not a supported destination, but a connection in Singapore airspace on the ground at Changi is.
At the first airport in the footprint:
- Enable the BambooSIM line.
- Set it as the mobile data line.
- Data roaming on for that line if required.
- Home data roaming off.
- Home number stays on for SMS.
If Grab fails to open, it is usually APN / roaming off, not “300GB is empty”.
One-time data eSIM. Install on the travel phone. ESIMG at checkout.

FAQ
When does the 30-day validity start?
On first attach to a supported network in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand or Hong Kong. Not at purchase, and not at install if you were outside those countries.
Does it work as a Bali eSIM?
Yes, Indonesia including Bali is in the footprint. For Bali-only, still compare a dedicated Bali eSIM (Indonesia). Use this SKU when the same trip also hits Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia or Hong Kong.
Does it work as a Thailand eSIM?
Yes. Thailand is in the five. For Thailand-only, the Thailand eSIM catalog and the network guide are the cleaner path.
What IP will apps see?
Singapore. That is the breakout for this product, including when you are in Bali or Bangkok.
Can I call a local number?
No. Data-only. Use the home line or an app.
Can I reinstall it after deleting?
No. One-time use. Do not delete the eSIM.
Is mainland China included?
No. Hong Kong is. China is a different BambooSIM plan with different routing.
What about the ESIMG code?
ESIMG is 10% off BambooSIM data plans on our promo record, last reviewed 5 August 2026. Confirm the payable total. It may not stack with a merchant launch code.
